It is great to work on attention to detail, concentration spam & interaction.
This is an easy way to support someone to deal with everyday worries. Get a jar, let the person decorate it as they like, (making it pretty & calming). Talk to them about their worries in a natural way and make a list with them. Print images associated to them. Finally keep the jar accessible for the person to go to it whenever they worry about something. They will discuss it once and then put into the jar for the rest of a very happy day.

Not everybody can recognise letters and numbers but many people can recognise phonetics. Turn your keyboard into a 'Phonetic Visual Keyboard' by adding images to each letter so that the person can identify that 'Soup' starts with 'S' for 'Snake'.
It's a fun project to make and it's a great opportunity to give people the chance to be more independent and learn new skills!
Using a kettle can be a dangerous business! If it's filled up too much, the boiling water can go everywhere!
Not everybody can recognise numbers to avoid these risks, so we can make their lives easier and safer by adding clear images to each level!
We did it with one of the ladies we teach. She loves to feel independent and she is now also safe and happy to make drinks for everyone!
This is a very simple way to help non-verbal people to communicate! Make a simple board like the one on the picture with two blank spaces on each side. Add either the person's name or picture to it so they can recognise themselves. Print pictures for the emotions (4 max) and the activities (as many as you want). Make sure you first present the emotions to the person, once they have told you how they feel, offer two or three adequate options for the emotion chosen.

'I feel/I need' visual board.
This is a fun and creative way to work on self-esteem. Make the tree bloom! The roots will be the person's values, the trunk their support 'what or who keeps them going' and finally, the flowers and leaves are the person's achievements and goals they've reached.
They can take as long as they want to do it, keep adding things and even ask others to add more to it.
Most people like a fun game of Bingo but not everybody can recognise numbers...
This is a great way to help people to be more independent by making their own Personal-Eyes Bingo game... This particular one is a Movie Bingo but we have made a Disney Bingo and we are working on a Music Bingo! Let them be creative and choose their specific interests to make it more fun!
'How would you describe this to an alien?'
This simple game will help you to work on concentration, attention to detail, communication, interaction between the participants and even learning new things about the animal or object chosen!
You can either start by showing the picture of the animal or draw it as the group discusses it, it may end up being a funny looking thing!

Pick their favourite character or toy to help you reminding them the daily jobs or items to bring. You can do this by making a sign with the person to put in their room or maybe a label to put in their bag so they know what to put in it before they leave the house.
Always 'Personal-Eyes' it according to their needs!

Most people love music and many would love to learn to play instruments or being part of a band or choir, but not everybody can read regular musical sheets.
Using the universal colour coding for every note in the musical scale, means music can be make accessible to all.

Do you work with Sensory Seekers?
This is a fun and creative idea to help them regulate through the sensations on their feet. Cut out large cardboard or wood footprints and add any texture they like to them!
This ones have things like feathers, cotton wool, corks, rice, soft stickers, different types of fabric, fake grass... Be creative!
This is a great way to do art with someone who struggles with fine motor skills. Let them pick an image to work on. Get two large pieces of paper, one would be the jigsaw and the other one the base to stick it on. Draw the same image on both and cut one of them into regular shapes. Each shape will be one colour. Work on one piece at the time an add it to the base. For parts where there should be more than one colour, keep drawing and building the picture layer by layer.
It's fun, creative and the results are great!
Make your own V-Shaped pillow! It's perfect for people who suffer from anxiety as it feels like a hug, people with sensory issues as it offers support for the neck and gentle weith on the arms.
All you need to do is get some old pair of trousers, stich the bottom of the legs, fill them up with teddy stuffing, close at the top and decorate them as you wish!
They are fun to make and great to use!
